Spray tanning is a cosmetic procedure that involves applying a tanning solution to the skin using a spray gun or misting device. The solution contains an active ingredient called DHA (dihydroxyacetone), which reacts with the amino acids on the outermost layer of the skin to produce a temporary darkening effect — the appearance of a tan without any exposure to harmful UV rays from the sun or tanning beds.

The tanning solution contains a chemical called DHA, which reacts with the air and the amino acids in the top layer of the skin, causing it to gradually darken. Only the uppermost skin cells are affected.
Yes, it is completely safe! DHA is non-toxic and the darkening reaction is confined to the top layer of the skin only — nothing is absorbed into the body. That’s why a tan fades away slowly as your skin cells naturally regenerate.
It takes just 15 minutes for a top-to-toe spray tan! Once your skin dries, pop on some loose clothing, wait for the colour to develop, and wash the solution off in the shower.
Remove any unwanted hair a couple of days before your session — especially if you wax — so your pores have time to close. Exfoliate thoroughly and moisturise well so the top layer of skin reacts evenly with the tanning solution.
Your radiant tan will last for about 5 to 7 days depending on how well you care for your skin. Moisturise regularly and avoid harsh shower gels and soaps, and your tan will look glorious all week.
Modern formulations are scented with sweet fragrances — no tell-tale ‘biscuity’ smell. Many of our products contain natural ingredients that rejuvenate the skin and improve elasticity.

Preparation
Before Your Treatment
Exfoliate
Exfoliate your skin thoroughly before your appointment to remove dead skin cells — focus on dry areas like knees, elbows and ankles for a smooth, even application.
Shave or Wax Early
If desired, shave or wax at least 24 hours before your appointment so pores can close, preventing irritation or uneven tanning.
Skip Moisturisers & Oils
Avoid moisturisers and oils on the day — they can interfere with absorption of the tanning solution and cause a patchy tan.
Remove Makeup & Deodorant
Remove any makeup, deodorant or other cosmetic products from your skin prior to the session.
Wear Loose, Dark Clothing
Bring loose-fitting, dark-coloured clothing to wear afterwards — the solution can transfer onto clothes temporarily.
Plan Your Schedule
Book your tan one or two days before any special event, so the colour can fully develop and the initial bronzer washes off.
Recovery & Results
After Your Treatment
Avoid Tight Clothing
Do not wear tight clothes that may rub off the tan — socks, boots, bras and similar — while the tan settles.
The Guide Colour
The colour you see straight after application is the technician's guideline colour — your own natural colour will be developing beneath.
Avoid Sweating
Avoid strenuous activities that make you sweat excessively, and don't get wet immediately, as this will affect the finished result.
Develop for 8–10 Hours
Leave the tan to develop for 8–10 hours before showering, and avoid very hot water as it can shorten the life of your tan.
Rinse & Pat Dry
After the development time, rinse without soap until the water runs clear, then pat dry with a towel — do not rub.
No Soaking for 24 Hours
Don't soak in the bath or go swimming for the first 24 hours — it can fade the tan prematurely.
Avoid Stripping Products
Stay clear of Dove products and avoid oil-based soaps and creams — they strip the tan.
