Microdermabrasion is a system of intense exfoliation and resurfacing using ultra-fine crystals that rejuvenate the skin. The crystals work as a gentle abrasive on the skin to remove dead skin cells layer by layer, and their irregular shape helps to work on hard-to-reach areas without any damage to the skin.

The vacuum action of the machine stimulates circulation and promotes increased blood flow to the area. The production of collagen and elastin is stimulated, which results in a firmer, more youthful-looking skin. At Milliner & Joseph, every treatment is performed by Tashia, a qualified aesthetics practitioner with Salon Gold insurance.

The 6-week course is a more holistic approach to skin rejuvenation. How quickly will I see a difference?

You will see results immediately, and with each subsequent treatment your skin will continue to look progressively better.

Does microdermabrasion hurt?

No — it is a painless, non-surgical treatment. Most clients compare it to a gentle, gritty facial massage, and there is no downtime afterwards.

How often should I have treatments?

Ideally, treatments are carried out every 7 to 10 days during a course to achieve the best results. Tashia will recommend the right course length for your skin at consultation.

Are there any side effects?

After treatment the skin may feel tight with mild redness, so it is important to use a good moisturiser. These effects normally subside within 24 hours of treatment.

Who is microdermabrasion for?

Anyone will benefit from microdermabrasion treatment. It improves the overall appearance of the skin, giving it a healthy glow and youthful appearance — and a free in-house patch test is available before your first session.

Preparation

Before Your Treatment

Avoid Waxing & Tanning

Avoid waxing or tanning the treatment area before your microdermabrasion appointment.

Skip Exfoliating Creams

Avoid exfoliating creams and scrubs for a few days prior to your treatment.

No Injectables

No injectables or fillers for 14 days before your treatment.

Patch Test

Book your free in-house patch test before your first session so we can confirm the treatment is right for your skin.

Communicate

Tell Tashia about any medications, skin conditions, or recent treatments so your session can be tailored safely to you.

Recovery & Results

After Your Treatment

First 12 Hours

No heavy makeup while the skin settles.

First 24 Hours

No swimming, facial waxing or fake tan.

First 48 Hours

No Botox, collagen injections or dermal fillers. No sun exposure, sun beds, sauna or heat treatments.

First 72 Hours

No AHAs, glycolics or retinol. No anti-ageing creams or exfoliating products.

Moisturise

Moisturise regularly to prevent the skin from becoming dry.

Sun Protection

Use a sun protection factor of at least SPF 15 at all times.

She came to my home (so no embarrassing travel home and I was able to out the children to bed first) and was so lovely!
